I love how you quote me, the neutral guy when there were other people who made comments that should of been quoted l0l
Anyways in regards to New Super Mario Bros U since that was what my post was in regarding since all the other software on the Wii-U is lackluster imo - NSMB2 came out less than a year before this game, the fact that NSMBU came out in short time frame and still managed to do over a mil is amazing especially making it probably the first non-bundled Wii-U game to hit 1 mil physical,
compare that to...a game that was sold on a system that has 70+ mil units
Gee I wonder why those games got over a million but not the ones on the PS3 :(!
Now if you make bundling as a argument

Now I know some of these examples seem a bit weak (i.e. Wii sports games) but my main point is that people love Mario and there are two games on the list regardless of them being bundles or not - their still counted.
Show me one game (bundled or not on the PS3) that even managed to make it to 15+ mil - matterfact give me a first party title on the PS3 that managed to even do that and then get back to me on it.
Gee I wonder WHY people buy Mario games hmmm I wonder, the storylines are weak, the budgets I'm sure are less than some of the higher up "AAA" titles, and its the SAME DAMN GAME!!!.

Damn that was hard to post like a rabid Nintendo fan lol

Come back when you aren't cherry picking the games. Try the Uncharted series, Killzone or God of War for PS3 and Halo & Gears of War for the 360.
If Mario game followings were strong, then surely the Wii U wouldn't be where it currently is.

Il ask you a question, would you pay 350$ (plus taxes) for a new console only for a 2d platformer? Now, try going to ask this to other people and see what their answers are. 2D mario games sell well in the longterm, but they don't sell systems. The mario games that will sell a lot of systems are mario kart and mario 3D.

Where do people get this notion? There is no evidence for this yet I see it all the time now after the Wii U launched. When NSMB arrived on the Wii, it was hailed as a massive system seller, now that the Wii U isn't doing so well the series has never been a system seller, queer logic. Software is not the main problem the Wii U faces, NSMB is still a system selling franchise but the Wii U lacks basic appeal.
PS: People paid 599$ for a PS3 many years ago to play Lair... the launch line-up was truly pitiful. The 360 had Perfect Dark Zero, not a very good game and neither of them are anything even remotely similar to NSMB in size and importance, yet the consoles sold because they had basic appeal and in spite of their launch line-up rather than because of it.
