As ever, it isn't about sales in the Western world in the twilight years of consoles with long legs, it's about emerging markets and "poorer" countries. PS2 basically stopped selling in America long ago, yet it still kept on trucking year after year, selling a lot somewhere.

The PS3 will never ever be as cheap to manufacture as the PS2.  Good luck selling it at such a high price to those emerging markets.
