Metroid Prime was never meant to be an FPS, hence its different controls. It's an action-adventure in first person perspective. Comparing it to Unreal Tournament makes as much sense as comparing Super Metroid to Contra 3.

The updated controls and loading times in Metroid Prime Trilogy make the game play a lot more fluently than on the GameCube, the same obviously also holds true for Echoes. Great games just got better. Corruption is just as good as before though, because they didn't change anything.

I replayed Metroid Prime Trilogy last September/October, completed the entire thing in 42:57.

I wouldn't say I was comparing it to Unreal, just that Unreal and it's ilk were my reference point for any first person game and I'd never even heard of Metroid before Prime so I had no idea what that gameplay was like.   So there was a disconnect between my expectations and what the game was.   I wonder how many others have had that experience over the years of Prime games as well.
