It's unfortunate for you that MS fans are the only ones who believe this.  How many gamers make constant threads about how much Nintendo made in the early days?  Or how much money Sony made durng the PS1 and PS2 years.  OR how much money MS lost during the Xbox years.  None.  The only topics that really remain relevant are the games for those systems and who sold the most consoles.  You can try to explain to other gamers, especially younger ones, why MS really won, but do you think they will listen?

Nintento won when it's said that over half of their consoles were impulsee buys are just sitting grabbing dust instead of selling games?   The Nintendo sales figures are a joke because there is so little profit involved in a console by itself.  

The idea that most Wiis were bought and then gathered dust after the owner bought maybe 1 or 2 games is a myth. The Wii attach ratio is over 7 games per console.

Also, Nintendo profited from the hardware from day one as it is cheap to produce.
