X will be a system seller because that's the kind of game that will attract the kind of gamers who will shell out $350+ for a console; a massive, gorgeous, open-world, "hardcore" follow-up to what it perhaps the most beloved JRPG of the 7th gen. Plus, it's 1st party, so gamers won't hold out to see if it goes multiplat.

Attempts to draw in the casuals with games like Wii Fit U, LEGO City Undercover, and New Super Mario Bros U won't work at this point because the system is too expensive; casuals gravitate towards the cheaper options. Once the price drops, then we might see these kind of games become big hits. Until then, Nintendo will have to appeal to the "core" if they want to move systems.
