I don't expect nor do I think a price drop is necessary. Wii U is a next-gen system and I don't think it's unreasonable for Nintendo to charge $350 for what is to be their flagship console for the next six years.
When Wind Waker comes out, I will get a Wii U, and I expect many others have similar views.
The problem is the same as 3DS early on... a complete lack of attractive software.
Wii U isn't likely to pick up significantly in sales until Wind Waker HD, 3D Mario, and Mario Kart come out toward the end of the year. Pikmin and LEGO City will help stop the bleeding, and might help keep the system from dipping below 10k per week, but they are not system-sellers by any means.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.
