| pokoko said: All I get from the OP is that Nintendo and Sony are lucky to live in a world where the Xbox brand has done so much for gaming. Wah. As for the rest, Sony and Microsoft have a business model where they change and adapt to new trends and different tastes. Nintendo's model has always been one where they make the device the way they want it to be, which customers can either take or leave. They're very, very slow to go after new core customers or those who are looking for more variety. Intentional or not, that's how they are. They definitely don't appeal to everyone--they seem to be trying to change that with the Wii U, but only kind of. They're niche somewhat by design. |
They make devices they think people want, and they failed a bunch of times like N64 and GC. Wii they hit out of the ball park but WiiU seems to be another fail on their part unless they turn it around. Appealing to every one is exactly what they are about, all ages access to all.
Lets not pretand their failure is due to some nobility of doing their own thing and willingly paying for it.
