To a certain degree yes. The people saying no are core gamers or, at the very least, people more knowledgeable than the current casual gamer audience that Nintendo is trying to target for the most part. I have a friend who works in EB games (GameStop) and around half the people he talks too that are interested in the WiiU actually believe it to be just the tablet controller add on set at a new console price. (Which, obviously would be a rip-off)

The Nintendo U would have been a far better choice. Keeping Wii in the name without adding a numeral was a mistake especially given the uninformed target audience. The Nintendo faithful and core gamers are responsible for it's near Wii like sale at launch and the casuals whom Nintendo needed for legs just are not there. That's why Sony are sticking with a numerical order ad M$ will also see Nintendo's current problem and work around it too.
