Wii 2 wouldve been far more appropriate, and wouldve let people know it's actually a NEW console. Wii U just makes it sound like it's an add-on.

I dont know about the biggest mistake but it was a mistake, i personally know several people who thought it was just a redesign, like the xbox slim, ps3 slim that added a controller because the wii had several, and not a totally new system. The only thing that make sense to me is that nintendo was trying to piggyback on their wii userbase, they wanted to emphasize on how you could bring you whole wii experience, games, controllers, etc to their new system.
