So, since piracy isn't a big deal anymore, used games are now the reason for poor sales. Sounds reasonable.

Used games are good for the environment! You just need one copy which many people can enjoy! But besides that, without used games, the games will just disappear one day. You know, I can buy Super Mario Bros. today, no problem. But imagine what happens if used games don't work. In 20 years there will be absolutely no possiblity to gain access to the titles of today. They will just vanish, no one will ever play them again and so no one will remember them. It may be good for video games as an industry if people only buy new games. But it is bad as hell for video games as an arts form as well as for every collector on the planet.
