6th gen - I first received my brother's GBA and a year or two later I got a GCN for my birthday. During the same time, my brother had a PS2, so both of us played the two systems. When GBA SP released I got that and traded in my GBA. I played the crap out of Emerald, Scaler, Wind Waker, Double Dash, Sunshine and Gran Turismo 4.
7th gen - I bought myself a NDS Lite during 2007, when Diamond released. Played the crap out of that and got a Wii during Christmas of 2007. During the same time my brother had a 360, sometimes I could play on it. When my brother moved I lost access to his 360. I played the crap out of Platinum, Mystery Dungeon 2, SSBB, Terraria, Runescape, Ranger 2 and Galaxy 2.
8th gen - Bought my 3DS day one and was close to buy a Wii U durin its launch and in the beginning of February.
During this gen I will get a Wii U, but late this year. I might get a PS4 in 3-4 years time or a new PC.
I have not played the crap out of any game yet this gen, except for one that is listed in 7th gen.
