it was behind the 3DS by around 30.000 units last week. The 3DS dropped by about 26.000 this week in Japan, while the PS3 sold better than the week before. In the west the 3DS ain't doing that well and we saw the release of Metal Gear Rising as well as Crysis 3. So I think it is possible.

Hmm, I was referring only to Japanese sales whilst you were talking WW (which is my error).

It's possible, yes, but it really needs to do it before Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, Monster Hunter 4 etc. come out (late March for the former). When that happens, I don't see anything beating it for a while, bar perhaps price cuts. In addition, the announcement of no backwards compatibility could realy hurt PS3 sales from now until the PS4 release, obviously larger effects will be felt in the coming months.
