Well let's say there was a Light type. 

It would be super effective against Dark no doubt but what else could it powerful/resistant/weak to?

But if it is super effective against dark, that in itself could screw up the balance (too many are super effective against dark)

Only 2, Bug and Fighting.

Unlike Grass which has 5.

Grass is powerfull against many types and weak against many types. Dark is powerfull against few, and weak agains few. Therefore it would screw up the balance, unless they in some way manage to work around it.
