No. I know a lot of people that know what a playstation 3 is, but they don't care about gaming at all. Sadly, people are stupid. Also, those advertisements showed almost nothing of the console itself, only people holding the gamepad in different angles with dubstep music in the background. 

You have to ignore a whole lot for your theory to even make sense. The reality of the situation is these people have probably been exposed to the Wii U already but it doesn't grab their attention so they don't dedicate it to memory.
