| Jumpin said: Well, I am not really sure that the PS4 will be as expensive to produce as PS3 was in 2006. In fact, probably significantly less so. For starters, the CPU, when PS3 was released, it had specs that were fairly high end and on an expensive to produce cell processor, whereas PS4 has more high-medium end specs compared to PCs today. 8 core 1.6GHz AMD processor is not going to be nearly as expensive as an i7 quad core 3.4GHz processor. Drives: The PS3 also used blu-ray drives which were new at the time, and expensive to produce. Now the technology is 6 years old and quite a bit less expensive. |
Agreed - but something tells me that even if the PS4 comes at around $450, it still will be too expensive for more than the absolute hardcore gamer. Don't let all these so called hardcore Sony fans, or core gamers on the whole, fool you, as these are the same ones that will sit on the fence until they can get the PS4 at a bundle price or better than launch deal. For example, Sony made the Vita for this same type of gamer, and those gamers have largely ignored the Vita. Now Sony is making the PS4 for this same type of gamer, and I expect that these gamers will be cautious about PS4 as well, regardless of the launch price that is around $450.
So, what ever the price of the PS4, i.e. anything around $450, gamers will be gamers and sitt on the fence ultil they can get an even better deal, IMHO.
