Since the black plastic box that the PS4 will be housed in wasn't shown by Sony at their announcement, I thought it would be fun to continue to speculate as to what we expect or want the PS4 and NextBox will look like.
Post your sketches, 3D renders,, sculptures finger paintings, ASCII, etc. showing your concepts for the PS4 and NextBox. Your concept art doesn't have to be pro, just do it no matter your skill or software. Will they be futuristic, retro, or ugly as sin. Will they be black, white, pink, or plaid? Will they have buttons, switches, or voice control? Will they have chrome, glass or aluminum. Let's discuss the design choices we want them to make or hope they won't choose.
BTW, please go the extra 1/8 of a mile and don't just post a list of features. At least doodle in MS Paint and upload it to tinypic so we can see it rather than read it.
Ok, I'll get things started, here's mine (right click for full size):
PS4
For the PS4 I went with a retro design that echo's the PSX's simple design. Slim Disc drive instead of pop-top and touch sensitive buttons.
NextBox
For the Nextbox I chose white for no other reason than to be the opposite of the PS4, but I think MS will go with black. I went with angled hard edges because the word Box makes me think it should look like it was cut and folded a single sheet of material. Another slim drive becuase that's what's in.
Before you ask I used Daz 3D and Photoshop. But all you need is MS Paint or paper, a pencil, and a digital camera.
Get to work and show what you come up with. Maybe just start with a feature you want and design around that.
