Nintendo's compromises generally relate to regulation of publishers (which is why many dislike them) in order to protect consumers.

Sony's compromises generally relate to regulation of consumers, in order to protect publishers.

Not true. Nintendo makes tech specifically for themselves then forces the devs to make games for them, Sony and Microsoft provide the specs and let the devs roam free. Before Sony came Nintendo had third party devs under the rule of a locked chip on the SNES.

How do you explain the Sega Genesis & PS1 & Sega Dreamcast?

Plus the Wii U is as easy to develop for as the 360.

And both the 3DS & Wii U give 3rd parties 100% freedom to make the kind of games they want, like Binding of Isaac 3DS. This also means that the 3DS & Wii U can have games that have more blood and gore and so fort in them then games for PS & Xbox.

So both PS3/PS4 & 360/720 limits the mature content while the 3DS & Wii U allow every disgusting thing to be made. And the Wii U also allows more indie developers to make games for it then PS3/PS4 & 360/720.
