Nintendo - "Innovative" - View Post

While I'd agree there was nothing particularly revolutionary in Sony's PS4 reveal, deciding it's just a bunch of copy-cat nonsense is absolutely ridiculous.

Sony look to have combined a number of recently successful elements into one gaming experience; if they pull that off successfully, they deserve credit. I haven't owned a PlayStation since PS1, but I'm genuinely interested in PS4 thanks to the combination of services, interfaces and social connectivity Sony are offering out of the box--it's a great, user friendly, developer friendly approach. Now I haven't seen any exclusive software that would make me plump down cash for a PS4, I'm far more interested than I was before this event. Just because Sony have pulled off a fairly successful reveal without bringing some zany new idea to the party doesn't mean they don't deserve credit; Nintendo's biggest successes came not from inventing something new, but in applying existing technology to the gaming world. PS4 looks to apply existing ideas to videogames in a slightly different way, and I welcome that.
