Ah yeah, that's when I played the free DLC a bunch to lvl off of. Honestly I didn't even give the map a try at first, took one good look at it and knew it was way more than I can handle. Maybe it is possible? I don't know, I needed a bunch of stuff to pull it off - Lissa's MAG high for the rescue range, and being capable of covering two fronts. Before attempting the map I managed to pick up a second seal and reclassed my avatar to thief, so he solo-plowed through the mid with ease, while Chrom (lvl16?) handled the left side without much trouble. That was pretty overkill, though |
It's possible, although Avatar, Chrom, Frederick, and Virion all need to be at a decent level.
Use a rescue staff to bring Mirabel and Ricken back to your starting location, then turtle up in the lower right corner. Make sure Frederick is clogging up the ramp to the center (pairing him up is necessary, and a high speed/defense character is preferred; also, elixirs and vulnerays up the wazoo for him). Once the first wave of wyvern riders are dealt with, shift to turtling in the lower center instead, as that permits you to pick off the wyvern reinforcements that spawn at the right-side fortress. You'll also be passing that Elwind tome around your magic users like a drunken hooker at a frat party. The pairing system will get a real workout too, both to boost your (pathetically low) stats and to cram your many squishy characters into the few safe zones left.
The good news is, once that map is done the road is fairly smooth until Chapter 12, when it all goes to hell again. I needed plenty of luck to get past that map: the beastkiller lance and armorslayer sword definitely earned their keep that day...
