But that's what makes the Wii-U's situation even more difficult. It has a very expensive controller, something the Gamecube didn't. They probably couldn't even cut the price to $199 without taking a serious loss per sold unit. So if Wii-u sales don't pick up, there's not much Nintendo can do.
If one of the big three is leaving the console race this generation, i think it's going to be Nintendo. After that i can see them focusing on mobile devices, maybe even release a Nintendo tablet(something i think the Wii-U controller should have been in the first place).
