I think everyone having lofty expectations for E3 from Nintendo will be sorely disappointed. This slew of game announcements is a clear panic move, a desperate attempt to spurr hardware sales that are dropping into the void. I think this years E3 will be a massive letdown to a lot of people, I stopped putting any stock in E3 a long time ago, the whole event has changed and its not what it used to be.

That's my take on it anyway, Nintendo are stressed like never before, we could even see them pull stupid stunts in the near future (a price cut they can't afford which will panic investors and show weakness to consumers, and it might not even make a huge difference). They never had the habbit of announcing games en masse like this but this has also turned into a good thing now, apparently (it was smart not to announce for the Wii ahead of time, according to a lot of people).

Good point.  While I'm a huge fan of Nintendo's games and I generally like their public figures like Reggie, Iwata, and Miyamoto (a personal idol of mine), I never agreed with that particular strategy.  I agree, if they announce a game and it then takes forever to come out, it can make me antsy, and if it's too long I may lose some interest, but it's important to reaffirm the expectations of both their stockholders and their fans that their system has a healthy library and a long life ahead of it.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
