Apart from a couple spikes in 2006 and 2010, the franchise has been in decline since the groundbreaking sales of the first two generations. Also, the highest selling console game, while a huge success, didn't break six million units sold. Compare that to Mario Kart or Super Mario.

If we trust the VGChartz numbers, then there is decline. It's still a monster of a franchise, but it's not growing very much.
