I disagree.  The price-cut gave the 3DS a temporary boost, but without the release of the Mario Kart and 3D Mario game, the 3DS remained at a relatively low sales-rate.  The 3DS before the price cut was doing better than the Vita was doing anyway.  So it's a combination of several things, including the price-cut and game releases, that helped the 3DS to come to a full recovery.
