It would still be a Nintendo machine. Just a Nintendo-Steam hybrid console for the Western markets primarily.

Since Nintendo basically makes no money off the Western "hardcore" market, why not embrace PC devs and get some licensing fee revenue from these games that aren't showing up on the Wii U anyway. 

Nintendo doesn't want to give any part of their company to another. Doing this would fail that idea. 

Nintendo is far bigger than Valve. They wouldn't be "giving" any part of their company to anyone.

They would be tapping into a completely different audience though, one which they have very little standing with right now.
