I blame the whole 1st person shooter crap that's going on this gen.

They're is no variety anymore. every developer wants to make the next Call of Duty and they fill the market with crappy fps's.

-Fighting games - DEAD

-Survival horror - DEAD

-Platformers - DEAD

-RPG's - DEAD

And many more!!

All the genres i mentioned above are still being made but they are not as relevant as previous generations because of the reasons i mentioned above.

Fighting games - killed by Capcom with endless copypasted games.

Survival horror - killed by Capcom with recent Resident Evils and other games like Dead Space turning them into action games with extra gore. Gore = scary right?

Platformers - killed by Nintendo with no new innovation since GameCube yet Mario is still the only game people actually go buy. No market growth in a cornered market.

RPG's - still plenty alive and kicking, at least in Japan, the problem is nobody buys JRPGs outside Japan to make them profitable to export en masse except Final Fantasy. Western RPGs are just bland moral choice quests with weak stories.

And yes I agree there are far too many FPS games. I despise Call of Duty and its clones like Medal of Honor.
