What's really bothering me is that the whole process of slow Virtual Console releases will start again! Superchunk just mentioned he owns 30 VC games - when do you think he'll be able to upgrade them? Probably 3 years down the line for some titles. I wonder how many people Nintendo has assigned to coding for the VC? 2 students working 12 hours a week probably. Being charged to use restore points and play the game in higher resolution is ok. But that slow trickle of VC releases is nothing short of embarrassing. It was ok in 2006 when the service was new but these games are already available for emulation on the Wii! The Wii U is powerful enough to just upscale those Virtual Console versions to HD and there's no reason for not having them right in the Wii U menu or streaming them to the Gamepad - how hard can it be to mirror the TV image on the gamepad? Alternatively, all they'd have to do is design a freaking emulator for us to download and just dump every single NES and SNES title on it at once. |
I think Nintendo might take a year to work on all of the games at once on Wii's VC store for an update. I'm not sure, but we'll see.
