In 240 B. C. a man named Eratosthenes went so far as to calculate the circumference of the Earth with extreme accuracy using mere shadows in different cities. This is very important because not only does it show that people back then were smart but also that they knew the Earth is round. In fact they never forgot it's round. It wasn't until the Protestants started bad mouthing the Catholic Church that the people believed a round Earth was a new discovery. Just wanted to let you guys know that.
