Well first of all thank you for the praise... :)
I want to make it clear that I am not taking anything away from Santa Monica studios. They know how to make gorgeous looking games and push console hardware to its limits. They are showing a fairly wide FOV in the latest GOW games and have some motion on the camera meaning they have to retain things in memory for a longer timeframe, so I don't think they are able to squeeze much more memory to work with compared to full 3D camera games. 10-15% more maybe... But this is enough to give them that extra umph! in terms of sharper textures, more elements on screen etc.
The fact camera is static also gives them much more control over polishing the visuals. They are able to focus on what the player sees at any given point and time. If something doesn't look right, I'm sure they are able to see it and fix it.
At some point GOW has to let go of the fixed camera aspect, even if it happens on PS5 lol. It'll be very interesting to see how it will look when they give full control of the camera and visuals to the player rather than directing the scenery and visuals themselves.

I don't think anyone wants to let go of the fixed camera.

Yeah it's a fundamental part of the style and cinematic presentation of the game. I don't see it leaving, in fact I don't invision any point in time where either critics or the god of war user base pressure the devs into altering such a recognizable visual element of the series.
I don't want it gone and this is the first time I've ever seen anyone mention it beyond the usual "GOW can do more because of fixed camera etc." and even then the comment came hand in hand with that bromide.
