To those who say this game does'nt look next gen: What are your expectation of next gen? Seriously I'd like to know. Are you guys aware that this game has a huge open world? I'm not talking about that Uncharted3, Last of Us or Beyond super linear and scripted style... It's not like Uncharted where all the game has to load is the small chapter your playing atm. Now that you are aware of this, compare it to other games with huge open worlds, none of the past open world games looked anywhere near as good as  Uncharted3 or Halo4. The best looking open world game that you could possibly compare it with is Skyrim, and X looks wayyyyyyyy better than Skyrim. The only thing missing from that game would be a confirmation that it is 1080p.

Now back at topic: I'm super excited about this. Gameplay looked rly similar to Xenoblade but I doubt this is a direct successor, if anything it's probably a spiritual successor because I don't think they could do a sequel the way Xenoblade ended, and also because in that trailer they used way more guns than blades, while despite Xenoblade having guns and mechs, most the gameplay was around blades and magic, this is the main reason why I don't think it's part of the same universe.

Now for my worries: What I LOVED about Xenoblade was the story and the universe (and Rikki!). That game looks fantastic but I seriously hope that Monolith succeeds in capturing that same charm that Xenoblade had, and that can't be done by pretty graphics alone. So I hope the story and characters will be great, but the confirmation of online and the artstyle makes me worry that it's a generic online MH game with few RPG elements. But because this is monolith soft, I'm not worrying to much (just a little).
Even if it fails to capture the same charm that Xenoblade did, I'm sure it will still be a great game, just not as good as Xenoblade. Either way I'm hyped.

My prediction is this will be coming in April 2014.

I think they will at least try to "westernize" it just a little, maybe tone down the green. I don't think that the artstyle is truely shown in that beta trailer, it looks like they just made a explorable area for testing and sorts. (Note the background right top corner at the start they attempted something but it isn't complete).

I mean let's trust them. Xenoblade to them was an experiment AN EXPERIMENT. They outright said in interviews that they were testing new styles, mechanics, and landscape designs. I agree it needs a little bit more color, but I'm sure they'll include areas just outright filled with them. (Compare Satorl Marsh/Valak mountain day/night they better bring the changing land with time of day back)
