This may be a little off-topic, but trophies/achievements/unified login are going to create an attachment to the brand (PS/XBOX).
I would be willing to bet that the PS4/720 are going to roll over peoples trophies/achievements and that is going to create a new reason to stick with that brand.
"Hmmm should I get a PS3 or 720? I can start at 0 on PS4....or I can buy a 720 and keep building up my gamer score where I left off".
People are going to eat that shit up, and Nintendo has set themselves up for a future where there is no roll-over into the next generation. (Granted they can probably patch it in like Sony did)
