So it was a joke petition...yet wont it hurt the chances of real ones (like a petition against tax hikes against violent games) ?

The entire Whitehouse public petition is a joke. The President will only use what he can for political gains and will ignore what people want if it gets in the way of his agenda. That's the way politics works and no petition will change it. Only fear of being voted out of office keeps our elected officials from completely trashing the constitution.
