Actually, I've been saying this since E3 '11 when they first unvealed it. The gamepad - at least a gamepad that isn't a true tablet - is a horrid mistake for exactly that reason. Casuals don't want dual analog (nor a limited function touch screen). It's not powerful enough to pull the core from PS3/360. It's not a tablet, nor can it compete with one. It's a horrid compromise system that no one wants. Within two years the new MS/Sony and 2nd gen Android gaming systems will all outstrip it on all fronts - including touch screens. It's D.O.A.
They should have been bold like they were with Wii and pushed the immersion motion brought even further. It's my gut feeling WiiU will be replaced by 2016 with a true Wii successor.
