Yeah, people forget that Gears of War didn't come out until Nov 2006, and it came out with a major marketing push with awesome, really awesome commercials. That was when people started to care about 360. But the system had still sold over 5 million by that time and Wii U will do the same, because early adopters don't care. 50k unit sales weeks suck, no question, but it doesn't matter much in the long run. Nintendo will launch some impressive games this fall and do a marketing blitz and with competitors now being more expensive sales will probably take off.

And Kitler isn't the target market of WiiU, and isn't who Nintendo needs to win over. He loves his Sony products, so converting him would be tough. He has also stated he is more than willing to pay a high premium for a product he desires. This is not Nintendo's market because they make affordable products. Nintendo's success depends largely on those consumers who compare price as a significant factor before making a purchase. Nintendo neeeds to win over the mass market with an appealing product at a good price. Those people probably don't care about any trailers at E3, but games that are on shelves or coming soon.

good post.
