They rebuilt the entire game from the ground up, only using the original's script. That means they built a new engine, modeled new models and textures, animated new animations and resampled the sounds for every piece of the game. The only reason they used the old script is because the game itself is of course, the same; no reason to write the same stuff twice.

It is exactly the same, true. Actually the game is basically the most literal take on the word 'remake' you can have; build the exact same thing for a second time .
