Why do people refer to OoT 3D as a remake?

Cos it is?

New Engine

New assets etc etc .

Is that what constitutes a remake? What new assets did they put in? Are you sure it's not just Master Quest content? I never played the Master Quest version and I love Ocarina of Time, I would probably pick this up if I ever get a 3DS.

They rebuilt the entire game from the ground up, only using the original's script. That means they built a new engine, modeled new models and textures, animated new animations and resampled the sounds for every piece of the game. The only reason they used the old script is because the game itself is of course, the same; no reason to write the same stuff twice.

For all intends and purposes, it's a newly built game.
