I think would effectively lock Microsoft out of the market at least. A full year head start and they wouldn't be catching Nintendo, not even with Halo.
Majora's Mask (RAM pak required) and especially Perfect Dark were too ambitious for the N64 anyhow, should've just let the N64 ride off into the sunset with Banjo-Tooie, Paper Mario, Pokemon Stadium, Mickey's Speedway, etc.
