I dont disagree that some of Nintendos hardcore fans were left in the dust with the Wii. In my eyes the most core fused Nintendo console was the N64 once a large portion of the third parties left. First party tends to grow when they leave, because as a company they are left to fend for themselves. Nintendo has to stay relevent and they did what they had to (whether I cared for their offerings or not...which sadly I didn't with the Wii). They've seen the error of their ways and are looking to come back to the core with the Wii U, but the problem there in is their launch offerings were aiming for an audience thats already spoken for, which is why certain parts of the holiday season they might have been outsold. Nintendos existence has to be about giving gamers something that cannot be found anywhere, if they stick to this and stick with the core the Wii U will weather the storm of next gen. I do agree that they lost sight of their core audience until E3 2010 when they showed off a slew of games. Possibly their best offering for the Nintendo core that I had seen in four years since their launch.
