| Dodece said: The best explanation is a analogy. This game is basically Assassins Creed played in first person view. In a jungle rather then a city. With more emphasis on ranged weapons. If that idea appeals to you then you should enjoy this game. If that concept doesn't appeal to you then you should probably move on. It is fairly derivative of that game series, but it does change it up enough to have a slightly different flavor. I understand that some people have issues with the story, and frankly I haven't really bothered with that part myself. If the mechanics are like Assassins Creed. Then the sandbox you are given is more like Grand Theft Auto. You can basically turn this game into anything you want. So if the story isn't for you. Then you can just play it as a simulator, and there is enough there for it to be viable just as that. Speaking to the animal system if you are thinking about a realistic hunting experience you would be sorely disappointed by what is on offer. The creatures actually have substantial hit points, and they don't behave remotely realistically. Basically you can empty a Assault rifles magazine into a Tigers head, and not only will it not go down, but it will keep coming after you. Hell it can take two shotgun blasts broadside on a deer to put one of them down, and the first shot won't even slow it down one bit. Not that you can't run them down on foot anyway. Anyway it is more tedious then anything else. The creatures specifically the cats and dogs have a bad habit of getting inside your character where you can't shoot at them anymore. Basically I got fed up with that after a few hours, and said to hell with this. Ammunition is expensive, and Molotov Cocktails are cheap. There is something profoundly unsatisfying about setting creatures on fire when a shotgun should do the job at near point blank ranges. |
Yeah a bow or a very strong weapon (such as an LMG) is definitely recommended for bears, tigers and such.
Good thing is, even when you die you spawn near the next radio tower or outpost at no costs. Except of the items that you've gathered between the point where it saved and your death. But you're also getting your ammo back that you've wasted while trying to shoot those animals (or pirates), so it's really fair.
