I know the focus this month will be on X360 and the WIi U launch, but 700k (and perhaps under if Wii U or Wii somehow did it), is a very bad figure for the US market for PS3 for a five-week December (140,000 / week or less). It's much more akin to a solid November than anything else, but December is typically much larger than November.
The 1.4m X360 figure also means barely topped 5m in 2012, and should be down to 3-3.5m in 2013.
Will be interesting to see what Wii & Wii U combined did in December, with the Wii U price, Nintendo likely had far more revenue on HW this Dec than last December even if Wii + Wii U came in under 1m (and my guess is they topped 1m combined, and Wii did 1.06m in Dec 2012).
