Also, judging by the video, it seems like encounters with 1st gen pokemon will happen. Including the Pikachu. |
I'm saying that Cheespin is a fucking lazy design even for Pokemon standards and looks kinda stupid. It's like they saw Alvin and the Chipmunks and thought hey we should make one of them into a pokemon, that and the fact that they already have a pokemon that is pretty much a chipmunk so they are repeating themselves. Talking of repeating themselves do we really need another fire type Fox/Dog Pokemon?

Do we really need a fire Chihuahua as well? Are dogs always assosiated with fire in Japan or somethnig? At least it looks decent in terms of actual design.
And visually I have all kinds of problems with what is shown, the high contrast art style makes the aliasing look real bad the shimmering on the overworld is already giving me a headache. The battles look pretty poor, the 3D pokemon are passable (tho I would prefer nice sprites myself) but ellements like the grass looks awful especially when zoomed in like they do, why do they even have those circles of ground if they are doing 3D battles anyway? It looks like they have added far to much animation priority for my liking as well, hopefully they will at least have a fast mode for battles tho I fear that the overworld is a lost cause. And what is the point of havinging a super narow path with a rope swing in the middle? All that does is slow me down. From what is shown the camera also looks more annoying than the one in Black & White, I'm sorry I don't come to pokemon for a cinamatic experiance and trying to shoehorn one in just detracts from the experiance. It looks like they will have more of the awful sequences like the bridge from Black & White as well, which is just a pointless time waster.
Also I never liked Pikachu always dumped him in the PC in Yellow. Tho I guess it's nice that they have realised that a good mix of old and new pokemon encounters from the start is a good thing. It's nice to see familiar pokemon mixed with the new surprises.
I really love Pokemon but the series has really started straying in a direction I just don't want from the series.
