I hope they come back to there former glory! this gen has been total shit when it comes to JRPGs.

The Lost Odyssey was very good. It had everything that made Final Fantasy good during the hight of Squaresoft's success.

I'm getting the Dreamcast version, but there are current gen versions as well.

You probably know this, but Lost Odyssey was as good as you say because the guy in charge of Final Fantasy at the height of the series in the late 1990s/eary 2000s created it.  Hironobu Sakaguchi.

Yep and the music was by Nobuo Uematsu who did the music for the original Final Fantasy as well as some of the most loved Squaresoft games.

The only reason I can think of that Lost Odyssey didn't go on to become the next Final Fantasy is that jRPG fans tend to be hardcore Sony fans and they never gave the game a chance or flat out turned their noses up because it was a 360 game. It's too bad becuase it really was something special and deserved to be more than a one shot cult classic.
