I'm not sure when the journalism world will be called on it...
But the media needs to stop being such trolls.
This article is actually pretty decent, at least the responses to the questions are. You can tell what narrative the interviewer was going for by these answers. Invoking the "Next-Gen" question is setting up every respondent to make a comment regarding this silly question. Really, it shouldn't even be asked. The device is obviously of a new generation or next generation of hardware for Nintendo. You can not play WiiU discs on a Wii system, you can not use the GamePad on your Wii system. That alone makes this console next generation.
The gaming media behaves in the same snarky way that I see from a lot of political pundits...and it's infuriating. Just deliever the news...let us decide. And if you are going to create a narrative with your questions, can you be a bit more subtle?
In regards to the potential of the WiiU...it depends whether the gaming media and store clerks can stop bitch-slapping Nintendo and its products for the sheer glee of it. The system is loads of fun, even with the minimal number of innovative titles out for it now. Once developers actually create products for it with intent to succeed and innovate we'll see a boom with the system. If, however, the developers behave like fanboys (or gaming journalists) then I fear that we'll see the system get heckled into obscurity. And this sad fact may be the first nail in the coffin for dedicated console gaming as we know it.
