If they can make a profit on continued FF13 sequels why shouldn't they do them? If anything they're wrong to stop after three.

Because they are ruining a franchise that was once so damn good....

In bold and underlined, that is EXACTLY the problem. SE believes in quantity over quality whereas it used to be the other way around.

Funny, because when I look at the timeline:

1999 VIII
2000 IX
2001 X
2002 XI

and yet

2006 XII
2009 XIII
2012 XIII-2

Three times as slow is "quantity over quality"?

It wasn't 3 years apart from when we seen XIII to XIII-2. It was 2 years. Japan got XIII in 2009 and got XIII-2 in 2011, North America got XIII in 2010 and XIII-2 in 2012. They also released Final Fantasy 14 in 2010. So nothing has really changed, but the quality of the games. And the fact that they don't listen to the masses of their fans.

You also have to look at it from a different perspective.

All these fans that are suggesting sakaguchi's games are better (which lost odyssey is atleast story wise over 13-2 imo). It does not necessarily translate into sales. Did Last Story or Lost Odyssey sell half as much as XIII-2? No.

So does listening to a fanbase that is smaller than your current fanbase, and just stopping the FFXIII series at a cliffhanger, and pissing off fans that like your current games  make sense? Not making FFXIII-3 isn't going to satisfy people that don't like it. So by not making it you make even more people not like you.

As opposed to just finishing the FFXIII series, making the current fans happy, making a profit. The names probably already damaged, but not releasing more FFXIII games isn't going to fix it, it's only going to make it worse.

I really doubt if FFXV or versus is amazing, people are going to be like ZOMG they released FFXIII-3 so I'm not going to buy this amazing game.
