I don't necessarily see it as a waste of time. Two of my interests are gaming and technology. These two are fairly closely linked and so I like to try to learn as much as I can about these topics. I might not be an expert in these fields but I like to think I've learnt enough from these forums and general browsing to be able to give informed opinions and advice to people (both in real life and on the net)
