But if one version has to be scrapped and the only one left is to be sold at a loss, the 3G is the one that should go. It's simple, don't waste money on something your customers don't care about anyway. And Sony said that they won't be taking a loss when selling a Vita 3 years after launch. I kinda doubt they were predicting current situation and such an early pricecut when making this prediction, so there is no chance that they won't be taking a loss next year if they cut the price. Hence it's better to take a smaller loss than a bigger one. Face it, keeping the 3G version instead of the Wi-Fi one is just stupid. Obviously Sony is known for making stupid moves, but I hope that the current financial situation will force them to think about what they are doing. |
I don't have another mobile device to browse the web. I did recently, an iPod touch 4 but I sold it because the Vita is better. The Vita browser is not crap, have you used it much? It recently had a major upgrade as well, sitting at 243. Not as good as some of the best mobile devices but much better than any console except the Wii U.
Why do you think the Vita would be selling at a loss after a price cut? That's a big assumption. They could just as easily have the price down far enough to offset the price cut. This is an unknown, but given Sony's situation and the way they already have priced the Vita there is a good chance they are holding off the price cut until manufacturing costs go down. Also I see you quote the false article talking about ita selling at a loss per hardware, when actually that article was quoting an interview saying the Vita will have a return on investment after 3 years. Know the difference.
As I've said 3G is a small manufacturing price known to be around $3. We don't know what Sony is getting for them and we don't know if some sort of deal exists between Sony and AT&T. Eliminating a feature is not a good idea. Sony should have just made one model to begin with, a 3G wifi Vita. They could have bolster support for 3G related gameplay features. By eliminating it they are canning the 3G aspects of games that are already made and are being made.
I like having a 3G Vita. I can use it as a GPS and have the option for internet when I go on vacation.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
