I agree with the point being made that Nintendo doesn't need to seek out 3rd party IPs that sell like 5 million copies with each game release because they already have stable full of their own 1st and 2nd IPs that sell 5 million or more copies.
What they need to do seek out or fund 3rd party games to fill out the library, sales being a secondary consideration. Bayonetta 2 is a good start, and it did have decent sales despite some people's claim to the contrary. What Nintendo could do is fund some of the games I'm sure Sega would want to do if they had the money atm, this is better in my opinion that outright buying Sega as this would keep them as a 3rd party company and not a Nintendo owned 2nd party company.
