It's not like writing a letter or even an essay. And mobile devices kill grammar and spelling quite often. So much so that I don't normally post on them. On topic. We'll have to agree to disagree on the spelling thing, I believe it does give an indicator of intelligence. If you're struggling with spelling but are putting in the effort, there's no harm done. But if you can spell and aren't doing it, purposefully or nonchallantly, then there's a problem. But let's just agree to disagree.
I agree with your second part, the Vita did get the bigger piece, and it was heavy on all sides as usual. But lately, it just feels like the vast majority of posts are trolling or full of fanboyism. Like Carl said, maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, but if there is an issue, we as a community need to do something about it.
Aielyn and cirio gave some advice, it'll help. Maybe the trick is to not care and seek out users you believe you can have intelligent dialogue with, and put an effort to not pay attention to those who are really just there to serve their own agendas.
