The best thing they could do in my view is buy SEGA at this point and restructure them into working teams of development ditching the publishing business wich would be left for Nintendo. It would also allow for nintendo to release software at a higher pace for both the 3DS and Wii U (making 3rd party support almost irrelevant).
That would dramatically increase the value of the Wii U. The two companies have alot of synergies and with the SEGA brand and IP's Nintendo can appeal to the hardcore without diluting the family friendly Nintendo brand. It could also give Nintendo's IP's some longer down time. They are coming up often and losing their critical significance (though obviously still huge).
