PS3 has much longer lifespan than PS2. There are still million in Japan who have not bought PS3 and million more in other regions. PS2 din't even have online. It used DVD. PS3 has free online, Blu-ray and next version might come with a 1 TB. - It has everything going for it. It will be more affordable and must in every household. WIth collection selling at great price. I cannot see anyone with Iota of brain not getting PS3 then and going for Wii, 360 which are dead, dying respectively. We have to wait and see but I see what PS3 has to offer and no reason for it not to sell for another 5-6yrs TBH. There also might be a new GT game as install base is so much for PS3. Sony might also support PS3 to make 120million or whatever their target is. |
PS3 probably has a short lifespan then PS2.
-When the 7th generation started PS2 had already sold about 105 million units. PS3 only just broke 70 million now that the 8th generation started.
-PS2 had a LOT more exclusive software and significantly more third party support then the PS3. Just about every other game released that generation was a PS2 exclusive or timed exclusive. Games like GTA: San Andreas extended PS2's lifetime significantly, GTAV is not an exclusive and any boosting effect it and other 3rd party games have, will be split between the PS3 and the 360.
-PS2 didn't have online, but no one played online back then lol
-PS2 also ended it's life at $140, PS3 is still being sold for $250, and with Sony's financial troubles, I don't see this price dropping by much
-How is 360 dead? YoY loss for 360 and PS3 are nearly the same at 24.5 and 18% respectively, the HD twins are dropping at a similar rate.
-And a new GT game? IF Sony is working on a GT6, it will be an early PS4 title, not a late PS3 title.
