So the GC did better than Wii lol, why even mention the GC if it had a wonderful launch and still sold less than 23 million consoles lifetime. It launched better than Wii. Also I love the fact you keep ignoring the fact that the WiiU has had reports of it being mostly sold out. Yet you brought up the Wii having supply problems and not the reports of the WiiU having the same. |
The GameCube did sell OK in North America. If you bothered to actually read my post I pointed out clearly the reason the GCN ended up with such a low userbase is that it got very little juice from the European (4 million life) and Japanese (3 million life time) markets and at the very least, Nintendo has made very large strides in those markets.
The Wii U demand is not anything like the Wii demand though. The Wii U is selling right at about the level Nintendo is shipping at, which is lower than the GameCube, so that's not exactly anything to throw a party over.
The Wii only sold about the same, but its highly disingenious to try and spin that the Wii U is just like the Wii. Hell no. Anyone around in 2006 will tell you something really unprecidented was happening with the Wii.
There were line-ups for *re-stocking* the Wii, not just launch. I had to line up at 8 AM to get a Wii in December 2006 and I got the very system. There were about 20 people behind me that went home empty handed. Wii could've sold 2-3x more easily in 2006, Wii U is selling right around where the demand is IMO.
